Do I need a ticket to attend the show?
YES! ALL SHOW TICKETS MUST BE PURCHASED IN ADVANCE AT www.paairshow.com. All air show tickets include parking in a designated area. AIR SHOW TICKETS WILL NOT BE SOLD AT THE DOOR.
Can I park at the airport and watch the show?
No. Access to the airport will be restricted to only those with air show tickets, arriving and departing airline passengers, and those picking up and dropping off airline passengers. Only employees scheduled to work will be allowed access to the airport and they will park in their designated area. Each air show ticket includes access to a color-coded parking lot. Air show staff will direct ticketholders to their designated parking area.
Nowhere on airport property will people without an air show ticket be able to park and watch the show. Also, parking along public roadways, and on private property, on or near the airport, is prohibited, and if necessary, will be enforced.
Can I watch the show from my boat?
Due to security requirements, a certain area of the Susquehanna River adjacent to HIA will be closed during practices sessions and on show days. Please click here for a map.
This area within the red box will be actively patrolled and any boats or other activity in this area will be asked to relocate to an area outside the box.
Will HIA close during the show?
No. The airport terminal building, car rental agencies, concessionaires, parking lots and the FBO will remain open. However, the FAA control tower will limit flight activity—within a five-mile radius of the airport—during practice sessions and show performances.
Will my flight be delayed or cancelled because of the show?
The air show practice and show performance schedules were given to each airline planning department months ago. Each airline has modified their flight schedules to minimize impact on their scheduled flights. Some flights could experience a departure delay should it take longer than normal to board an aircraft, and some could experience an arrival delay if they arrive earlier than expected. The FAA control tower will coordinate arriving and departing flights between practice and show performances.
How will airport parking be impacted by the show?
Cell Phone Lot: The HIA cell phone lot will be closed on Wednesday, May 21st and will reopen on Tuesday, May 26th.
HIA Garage: The second and third floors of the garage will remain open to airline passengers and those picking up and dropping off airline passengers throughout the show. The fourth floor of the garage will close on Monday, May 19th for air show use and reopen on Monday, May 26th.
HIA Long-Term Lot: The long-term lot will remain open throughout the show. The HIA shuttle bus service on Saturday and Sunday, between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm, may take a few minutes little longer than normal due to show related traffic. However, the show’s traffic control plan will give HIA shuttle busses drivers priority access into and out of the lot and to/from the terminal building’s front curb.
Can I still pick up and drop off airline passengers?
Yes, arriving and departing passengers can be picked up and dropped off as normal along the terminal front curb throughout the show. However, access to the terminal may take a few minutes longer than normal between 8:00 am and 2:00 pm on show days. Leaving the terminal building between 2:00 pm and 6:30 pm may take a few minutes longer than normal on show days as well.
Will vehicle traffic around the airport create a mess during the show?
The Air.Show tour has hired a professional and experienced traffic management company to limit traffic delays on show days. A traffic control plan has been developed and coordinated with the assistance of airport, local and state police. Numerous traffic control checkpoints will be set up and a communications system has been established so arriving and departing show attendees, airport passengers, and local traffic can be directed and managed to limit congestion and delays as much as possible. The busiest traffic hours are expected to be between 8:00 and 11:00 am, and between 4:00 and 6:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Will there be security at the show?
Yes. All show attendees will pass through a bag search station and be screened before gaining access to the show site.
